Adamu Garba Steps Back From Active Politics
Former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adamu Garba, has announced his withdrawal from active political participation.
Garba said he would scale down all political activities and focus his attention on his technology business.
The former presidential aspirant made the announcement in a statement shared publicly on Tuesday.
According to him, the decision followed careful reflection on the demands of his business responsibilities.
Garba said his position as Executive Chairman of IPI Group Limited and his responsibilities within the company required sustained attention.
He explained that his business obligations could no longer be effectively combined with heavy political participation.
As a result, he said he had decided to give his full attention to the development of the company’s technology-driven operations.

Technology Takes Priority
Garba said his decision was influenced by his desire to focus on building an AI-focused enterprise.
He described the work as requiring technical depth, personal involvement and a level of commitment that could not easily be delegated.
According to him, trying to combine the responsibilities of building the business with active political participation could affect one or both areas.
The decision therefore represents a major shift in focus for the former presidential aspirant.
Garba said he would now concentrate on the development of his technology enterprise and other initiatives aimed at supporting society through technology.
His announcement comes after several years of active involvement in Nigerian politics.
Nine Years of Political Participation
Garba expressed appreciation to supporters, associates and political leaders who had worked with him during his political journey.
He said his years in politics had shaped him and contributed to his personal and professional development.
The former presidential aspirant declared interest in the 2019 presidential election under the APC.
His political agenda at the time focused on issues including structural reforms, youth participation and national integration.
He later remained active within the APC and again emerged as a presidential aspirant ahead of the 2023 general election.
However, he withdrew from the party’s presidential contest in 2022.
Garba cited the high cost of the party’s expression-of-interest and nomination forms as a major reason for his decision.
The forms were priced at N100 million.
At the time, he argued that the cost could make political participation more difficult for younger Nigerians and people without significant financial resources.
Focus Shifts From Politics to Business
Garba’s decision comes as political activities across Nigeria continue to increase ahead of the 2027 general election.
While many politicians are expanding their political networks and building alliances, Garba has chosen to take a different path.
His decision to step away from active politics highlights the competing demands faced by politicians who also manage large private-sector responsibilities.
The technology sector is also becoming increasingly important to Nigeria’s economic future.
Garba said his attention would now be directed towards building his enterprise and contributing to development through technology.
