Former Big Brother Naija housemate Queen Mercy Atang has stirred global conversations after Guinness World Records reacted to her viral bread-themed outfit worn at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

The reality star’s unconventional appearance on the AMVCA red carpet quickly became one of the most talked-about fashion moments from the event.

In a video shared on Instagram on Sunday, Guinness World Records joined the online conversation with a comment that read, “Well, we do have a record for the largest cake dress … hmmm.”

Reacting to the comment, Queen wrote, “Hello @guinnessworldrecords, I see you in the comment section.”

The interaction immediately fuelled speculation online that the reality star could be heading into discussions surrounding a possible world record attempt.

According to Guinness World Records, the current record for the world’s largest wearable cake dress weighs 131.15kg (289lb 13oz). The feat was achieved by Natasha Coline Kim Fah Lee Fokas of SweetyCakes GmbH in Bern, Switzerland, on January 15, 2023.

Queen’s costume attracted widespread reactions after she appeared at the AMVCA dressed in an outfit designed to resemble loaves of bread, complete with a matching bread-themed prop.

Explaining the inspiration behind the outfit, the former reality TV star said the concept reflected her entrepreneurial journey in the bakery business.

“AMVCA 2026 ready. I come as an entrepreneur who runs a bread EMPIRE,” she wrote while unveiling the look.

The outfit has continued to trend across social media platforms, with fashion lovers, branding experts, and entertainment followers debating its creativity and symbolism.

While some critics described the outfit as excessive and unconventional, others praised it as a smart branding strategy that successfully generated international publicity for her business.

On Monday, Queen also proposed the creation of a dedicated entrepreneurs-focused event at the AMVCA.

In an open letter addressed to MultiChoice Group and Africa Magic, she suggested introducing a special platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their brands and innovations.

“Just a thought, since we already have the AMVCA Cultural Day and other special events before the main award night, would it be possible to create a special night dedicated to entrepreneurs in Nigeria to showcase their brands, creativity, and impact?” she wrote.

“Imagine AMVCA Nigerian Entrepreneurs Night. Massive, classy, and inspiring.”

The bread-themed outfit has since attracted international attention, with foreign fashion influencers and media platforms reportedly discussing the concept online.

The trend has also inspired several entrepreneurs on social media, many of whom have started using AI-generated concepts to create brand-themed outfits and AMVCA-inspired fashion ideas.

Videos from the red carpet showed Queen adjusting the elaborate costume while interacting with guests and posing for photographs, further adding to the viral nature of the appearance.
