English and Italian football heavyweights Manchester City, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Juventus are set to face off in a series of pre-season friendlies in Hong Kong this August.
The fixtures, announced on Tuesday, will form part of the “Hong Kong Football Festival” at the newly built Kai Tak Stadium, a 50,000-seat venue designed with modern cooling systems to manage the city’s intense summer heat and humidity.
The festival will open on August 1, when Manchester City, led by manager Pep Guardiola and star striker Erling Haaland, take on Inter Milan, who are currently enjoying a strong domestic campaign under coach Cristian Chivu.
Inter Milan sit at the top of Serie A, aiming for a 21st league title, while Juventus—managed by Luciano Spalletti—are pushing for a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.
Chelsea will face Juventus on August 5 in the second fixture of the mini-tournament. Chelsea, featuring players such as Cole Palmer, are undergoing a transitional phase following managerial changes and inconsistent league form.
Inter Milan’s squad is expected to include key forward Lautaro Martínez, while Juventus will likely rely on striker Dušan Vlahović as part of their attacking lineup.
Fans in Hong Kong will also be able to attend open training sessions featuring the clubs, offering closer access to star players ahead of the matches.
The event follows a growing trend of European clubs staging high-profile pre-season tours in Asia, with additional fixtures already confirmed involving Bayern Munich and Aston Villa later in the month.
Last year, Hong Kong attracted large crowds for similar fixtures, including Liverpool vs AC Milan and a North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, highlighting the region’s growing importance in global football pre-season tours.
