The Nigerian Navy and SIFAX Group have reaffirmed their commitment to closer operational collaboration to enhance maritime security and protect critical economic assets in Lagos.
The renewed partnership was announced following a courtesy visit by Rear Admiral A.A. Mustapha to the headquarters of SIFAX Group in Lagos. The admiral described the engagement as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with key stakeholders operating within his area of responsibility, noting that Lagos handles a significant portion of Nigeria’s cargo throughput.
“Our mandate is to provide a secure maritime environment where businesses can thrive,” Rear Admiral Mustapha said, highlighting that intensified intelligence-driven operations and increased naval presence are critical for uninterrupted trade, energy security, and investor confidence. He also called for structured information sharing between the Navy and maritime operators, stressing that timely intelligence serves as a force multiplier against criminal activity along sea lines and coastal communities.
Representing SIFAX Group Chairman Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Group Coordinating Director Mrs. Wunmi Eniola-Jegede pledged continued cooperation, describing the Navy as a critical partner for operational stability. She emphasised the company’s readiness to deepen engagement in areas including waterfront development, port expansion, and corporate support for national defence initiatives.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to institutionalise engagement channels, promote early coordination on strategic initiatives, and consolidate a partnership built on shared responsibility for national development.
