Former Big Brother Naija housemate Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has spoken out against false rape allegations following the controversy surrounding TikTok user Mirabel.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Tacha described rape as a serious issue that should never be weaponised.
“Rape is a very serious issue. Women should never weaponise rape for any reason, because at the end of the day, you are taking away from the real victims,” she said.
Her comments come after Mirabel reportedly admitted to fabricating a rape allegation, sparking widespread debate online.
Tacha argued that false accusations make it harder for genuine victims to be believed and embolden those who downplay or dismiss sexual assault claims.
“If any girl comes out to accuse a guy falsely of raping her, I honestly think she should be taught a lesson,” she added.
While acknowledging that mental health concerns may sometimes play a role in such incidents, Tacha maintained that consequences are necessary to reflect the seriousness of rape allegations.
At the same time, she stressed that fabricated claims do not invalidate the experiences of real survivors.
“I am not going to back down from the fact that women still do get raped. I am not going back down from the fact that there are real victims out there,” she said.
“It toys with your mental health.”
The controversy has reignited conversations about accountability, justice, and the impact of misinformation in sensitive cases involving sexual assault.
