Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has credited his team’s 3-1 Premier League victory over Chelsea on Wednesday night to the players’ outstanding performance and determination.
At Elland Road, goals from Ao Tanaka, Jaka Bijol, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin propelled Leeds to a memorable win against the Blues, leaving Chelsea stunned.
Speaking after the match, Farke praised his players for their resilience against a top-tier side.
“We were so desperate to bring this club back to the top level, and Elland Road was back to its best,” Farke told the BBC.
“A great, great shift from my lads, great performance against one of the best sides in the world. They won the [Club] World Cup in the summer, they are one of the contenders for the Premier League title, and then to win this game, also in this manner, and I would also say deserved by chances, expected goals, shots, shots on target.”
The win marks a crucial point in Leeds’ campaign, lifting them out of the relegation zone, while Chelsea drops to 4th position in the league standings.
Farke’s side showcased both tactical discipline and clinical finishing, signaling that Leeds can compete effectively against top Premier League teams when firing on all cylinders.
