The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan ahead of the 2025 Capital City Race, scheduled for Saturday, November 22, 2025, between 6:00 am and 9:00 am.
In a statement released by the Lagos State Director of Public Affairs, Bolanle Ogunlola, the government noted that the 10km race, organised by the Lagos State Sports Commission in partnership with Capital City Race organisers, will kick off at Ikeja Shopping Mall.
Participants will move through Billings Way, Kudirat Abiola Way, Opebi Link Bridge, Adeniyi Jones, and Oba Akran, ending at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church, Oba Akinjobi Way, Ikeja.
According to the statement:
“Several roads, junctions, and intersections along the race route will be partially closed. These closures will be opened intermittently as the race progresses to ease movement within the axis.”
Security and traffic agencies—including the Nigerian Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA)—will be deployed along the route to manage movement and ensure safety for both participants and motorists.
- Motorists were advised to stay patient and plan their trips ahead, as the temporary closures form part of the government’s traffic management strategy for the event.
