The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) will host a special honour initiative during the 2025 Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Nigeria Digital Content Regulatory Conference, celebrating 22 distinguished Nollywood stars and legends who reached the milestone ages of 50 and 60 this year. The conference is scheduled for November 18–19, 2025, at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
Executive Director and CEO of the NFVCB, Dr. Shaibu Husseini, explained that the celebration seeks to recognise practitioners whose careers have significantly shaped the Nigerian film industry. “Nollywood’s strength lies in the people who give life to its stories. Honouring those who have invested decades of excellence in the industry is both a responsibility and a privilege,” he said.
For this maiden edition, the NFVCB selected 22 honourees who reached these milestone ages in 2025, ensuring a focused and meaningful celebration. The honourees include: Rita Dominic, Ngozi Ezeonu, Segun Aina Padonu, Desmond Olusola Elliot, Atoyota Akpobeme (Ali Baba), Ahmed Sarari, Afeez Bello, Adebayo Tijani, Achibi Sam Dede, Liliam Amah, Eucharia Anunobi, Taiwo Adeleye, Seyi Siwoku, Jude Chukwuka, Kingsley Ogoro, and former Directors Guild of Nigeria President Sir Bond Emeruwa.
Dr. Husseini noted that the honourees represent a wide cross-section of Nollywood’s most influential actors, filmmakers, and creative contributors—individuals whose artistry, resilience, and career trajectories continue to inspire audiences and emerging talent.
He also revealed that this tribute marks the beginning of a sustained culture of institutional recognition for Nollywood practitioners. From next year, the honour roll will expand to include industry veterans turning 70 and above, celebrating those whose pioneering efforts laid the foundation of today’s Nollywood.
This year’s conference will hold under the theme “From Volume to Value: The Future of Nollywood in the Digital Age,” with a keynote address by renowned stage and screen personality Bolanle Austen-Peters.
