Odumodublvck Explains Origin of His Stage Name

Before adopting the name that has now become synonymous with his brand, the rapper used the stage name “T Flows”,

Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has shared the story behind his distinctive stage name, revealing that it began as a playful childhood nickname that eventually defined his artistic identity.

Speaking in a recent interview with BET Network, the rapper explained that the name “Odumodu”, which translates to masquerade, was originally used to mock him after he attempted to scare someone as a child.

“Odumodu means masquerade. I tried to scare someone and he called me that name. I was like, ‘No, don’t call me that.’ You know it’s that name you don’t want to be called,” he recounted.

The nickname stuck, spreading among his schoolmates, and became more entrenched after a humorous moment involving his mother.

“One day my mom came to visit me in school and they were like, ‘Yo, Odumodu’s mom is around,’ and she’s like, ‘who’s that?’ And I’m like, ‘that’s what it is.’ Then I started making music,” he said.

Before adopting the name that has now become synonymous with his brand, the rapper used the stage name “T Flows”, which he now dismisses as unoriginal.

“The name I had first was T Flows — whack name. There are probably like a hundred thousand T Flows in the world, but there’s only one Odumodublvck,” he said confidently.

He noted that his friends initially made fun of the new name, but he chose it precisely because of its uniqueness and staying power.

“When I told my friends that my name’s going to be Odumodu Blvck, they started laughing. I said, ‘yes, that’s the point. That’s the name.’”

Odumodublvck added that he is proud to have embraced the identity fully, insisting that without it, the artist the world knows today may never have existed.
