Amorim hails Senne Lammens as Man United’s next Courtois

Ruben Amorim believes his young Belgian keeper can become a world-class star — with guidance from Thibaut Courtois.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has backed new signing Senne Lammens to become the club’s long-term answer to Thibaut Courtois, revealing that the 23-year-old Belgian regularly speaks with the Real Madrid star.

Lammens, who joined United for £18.2 million on deadline day, impressed on his debut in a 2–0 win over Sunderland, earning a standing ovation for his calm performance and confident saves. Amorim’s decision to drop Altay Bayindir paid off immediately, as the young goalkeeper brought composure and authority to the backline.

Club insiders say Amorim views Lammens as “Courtois 2.0”, praising his aerial strength, distribution, and leadership on the pitch. The United boss reportedly mentors him closely and believes the Belgian can develop into one of the best goalkeepers in the world within three years.

Courtois and Lammens, who were both called up for Belgium’s World Cup qualifiers, maintain regular contact. The Madrid veteran has advised his compatriot on adapting to the Premier League and the pressures of playing for a global club like Manchester United.

Following the Sunderland victory, Amorim said:

“Senne did a great job, gave us confidence. It was a good day — not perfect — but a clean sheet means a lot.”

United officials are said to be delighted with the young keeper’s attitude, describing him as “the first to arrive and the last to leave” training. Many believe the club has finally found the right man to restore stability between the posts after years of uncertainty.
