Prominent traditional rulers and dignitaries converged on Mapo Hall, Ibadan, on Friday ahead of the coronation of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Among the royal fathers in attendance are the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade; Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Olaoye Ghandi; Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Rasheed Akanbi; and Olugbo of Ugbo, Oba Akinruntan, alongside other notable monarchs.
Oba Ladoja had earlier performed the required traditional rites at the Osemeji shrine in Oja’ba, under the supervision of the Abore of Ibadanland, before proceeding to the historic Mapo Hall for the final ceremony.
Meanwhile, Governor Seyi Makinde led a delegation—including the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, and federal and state lawmakers—to Ladoke Akintola International Airport to receive President Bola Tinubu, who is expected to grace the coronation.
The ceremony marks a historic moment for Ibadanland as Oba Ladoja ascends the revered throne, uniting political leaders, traditional rulers, and citizens in celebration.
