FG Unveils Digital Portal for Reporting Housing Fraud and Monitoring Projects

“The Housing Fraud Reporting web-based platform allows citizens to report incidents of fraud in housing estates, submit complaints, and share relevant evidence,” the statement read.

The Federal Government has launched a digital portal that enables Nigerians to report fraudulent activities in housing estates, submit evidence, and monitor the progress of their complaints.

The initiative, announced by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (FMHUD) on Tuesday, is part of efforts to combat fraud in the real estate sector. The portal is accessible via https://reports.fmhud.gov.ng.

The launch event featured demonstrations by technical consultants Freestone Investments Limited and Prunedge Development Technologies Limited.

According to the Ministry, fraudulent practices in housing estates will no longer be tolerated, and offenders will face the full weight of the law.

“The Housing Fraud Reporting web-based platform allows citizens to report incidents of fraud in housing estates, submit complaints, and share relevant evidence,” the statement read.

Complaints submitted through the portal will be reviewed by the Ministry in collaboration with professional bodies, law enforcement agencies, and the judiciary.

Alongside the fraud reporting platform, the Ministry also introduced the Contract Performance and Compliance Project Monitoring System (CPCPMS) to enhance oversight of housing projects. This platform enables real-time monitoring, evaluates contractor performance, and provides a centralised repository for project documents and payments.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, said the initiative aligns with the 2012 National Housing Policy, which advocates stricter regulation of the housing sector, certification of developers, and stronger consumer protection.

Deputy Director and Head of the Ministry’s ICT Department, Dr. Marcus Amiolemen, added that the fraud reporting system was developed in partnership with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for effective tracking and enforcement.

Both platforms aim to promote transparency, protect citizens, and ensure accountability in Nigeria’s real estate sector.
