Security operatives in Ogun State have apprehended six suspected cultists implicated in the recent Sagamu violence, with one surprising twist—among those arrested is Hon. Damilare Bello Mohammed, the representative of Sagamu State Constituency (1) in the House of Assembly. It is alleged that Hon. Damilare Bello Mohammed provided refuge to these fleeing cultists.
The police had embarked on this operation following a tip-off with the team of security personnel executing a sting operation within the legislator’s official residence, resulting in the capture of the suspects.
The detained individuals, as disclosed by reliable sources, include Damilare Bello Mohammed, known as DRE, along with Debbo Animashaun, Bamidele Saheed, Ismaila Onitire, Adewale Otesanya, and Tobi Owoade.
They are currently under interrogations while investigation continues at the Department of State Service (DSS).
Sources also diaclosed that numerous dangerous weapons, including firearms, were confiscated from the apprehended individuals.
This incident is not the first involving Hon. Bello. It will be recalled that earlier this year, he was arrested by the DSS for purportedly orchestrating a violent protest in Sagamu. The protest erupted in response to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) naira redesign policy, and it led to the vandalism of approximately 10 banks and other public infrastructure by irate youths.
