Skyway Aviation Handling Company Plc (SAHCO) has reaffirmed its leadership position in Nigeria’s aviation industry after serving as the sole ground handling service provider at the commissioning of the newly completed Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State.

The airport was officially inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure development and positioning Ogun State as a growing hub for passenger and cargo operations.

SAHCO’s exclusive role at the event underscores its reputation for operational excellence, safety standards, and reliable service delivery across Nigeria’s aviation sector.

Chairman of SAHCO, Taiwo Afolabi, described the appointment as a strong vote of confidence in the company’s capabilities, noting that it reflects years of consistent performance in ground handling operations nationwide.

He said the opportunity to support the commissioning further demonstrates SAHCO’s commitment to investing in modern equipment, skilled manpower, and innovative aviation solutions to ensure seamless airport operations.

According to him, the company’s collaboration with Allied Air will also strengthen cargo handling capacity at the new facility, particularly for time-sensitive and high-value goods, with expected benefits for agriculture, manufacturing, and e-commerce sectors.

During the commissioning ceremony, SAHCO provided comprehensive ground handling services including ramp operations, passenger facilitation, cargo handling, and full operational support, ensuring a smooth and successful launch of the airport.

The Gateway International Airport is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity, stimulate economic activity, and open new trade and investment opportunities for Ogun State and surrounding regions.

SAHCO said its role as exclusive ground handler positions the airport for efficient and high-quality aviation services from inception, while reinforcing its broader commitment to advancing Nigeria’s air transport ecosystem.

As Nigeria’s aviation sector continues to expand, the company pledged to maintain its focus on operational excellence and industry innovation.
