Real Madrid have confirmed the extension of Antonio Rüdiger’s contract, with the German defender set to remain at the club until June 30, 2027.

The Spanish giants announced the renewal on Tuesday, stating that both the club and the player had reached an agreement to continue their partnership for an additional period.

“Real Madrid and Antonio Rüdiger have agreed the extension of our player’s contract, who will stay at the club until June 30, 2027,” the club said in an official statement.

The 33-year-old centre-back joined Real Madrid in 2022 from Chelsea, having previously played for Stuttgart and Roma during his professional career.

Since arriving at the Santiago Bernabéu, Rüdiger has become an important figure in the team’s defence, contributing to several major successes.

He was part of the squad that won the Copa del Rey in 2023 and later lifted both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League titles in 2024.

His performances have been widely praised for consistency, leadership and defensive strength in high-pressure matches.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, continue to reshape their squad following a trophyless spell over two consecutive seasons, prompting significant changes in management and recruitment strategy.

The club recently appointed José Mourinho as head coach earlier in June as part of its efforts to restore dominance in domestic and European competitions.

Madrid have also been active in the transfer market, announcing the signing of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea on Monday.

The club has been linked with several high-profile targets, including Bernardo Silva and Denzel Dumfries, while reports suggest Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté could join the Spanish side upon the expiration of his contract.

Rüdiger’s contract extension is seen as a key step in maintaining stability at the back as Real Madrid continue their squad rebuild ahead of upcoming seasons.
