The Progressive Governors Forum has denied reports claiming that the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has been removed as chairman of the forum.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Director General of the PGF, Folorunso Aluko, the forum described the report as false, misleading, and without basis.
“The attention of the Progressive Governors Forum has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating in some media platforms alleging the removal of its Chairman…,” the statement said.
The forum clarified that no meeting was held where any such decision was taken and insisted that Governor Uzodimma remains the duly recognised chairman.
It further stated that the PGF secretariat has no record or awareness of any resolution removing him from office.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Progressive Governors Forum states categorically that the report is entirely false, baseless, and without an iota of truth,” the statement added.
The group reaffirmed that Uzodimma continues to serve as chairman of the forum and urged the public and media organisations to disregard the reports.
The PGF also emphasised that it remains united and focused on its collective responsibilities, dismissing the rumours as unfounded.
