In a recent address at the April edition of the Holy Ghost programme of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer, addressed criticisms leveled against the church while expressing confidence in its future.
During the event themed “Shielded by Fire” and dedicated to children, Pastor Adeboye responded to critics, asserting that the RCCG will ultimately prevail. He acknowledged the criticisms that have arisen but remained steadfast in his belief in God’s strength.
Adeboye, visibly moved by the recent wave of criticism, emphasized humility, stating, “If Paul, who wrote more than half of the New Testament, claimed to be less than the least of the saints, Pastor Adeboye is nothing.” He continued by acknowledging his own weaknesses and humanity, saying, “Adeboye is one stupid boy. But His God is wiser than the wisest. Adeboye is weak. Believe it or not, he eats pounded yam, he goes to the toilet.”
However, Pastor Adeboye highlighted the power of God that transcends human limitations, asserting that despite his shortcomings, God remains omnipotent. He emphasized that the true strength lies in God and urged caution in mocking individuals while reminding critics not to undermine the power of God.
Adeboye referenced biblical teachings, noting that those whom God chooses to use are often perceived as foolish or weak in the eyes of the world. Despite any mockery directed at him personally, Adeboye maintained confidence in the divine strength of God, stating, “Adeboye can do nothing. But his God is a consuming fire.”
The General Overseer’s response reflects the unwavering faith and resilience of the RCCG amid challenges and criticisms. As the church continues its mission, Adeboye’s words serve as a reminder of the enduring power of faith and the belief in a greater purpose beyond human understanding.
