Victor Osimhen was on target as Galatasaray secured a dominant 3-0 victory over rivals Fenerbahce in a heated Istanbul derby on Sunday.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 40th minute, marking his return from injury with a close-range finish at Rams Park to give the hosts the lead before halftime.
The encounter started with high intensity, as both sides were involved in an early confrontation within the opening 10 minutes, resulting in multiple bookings.
Fenerbahce had a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 13th minute after being awarded a penalty, but Anderson Talisca missed the spot kick, sending his effort wide.
Galatasaray gradually took control of the match and extended their lead in the second half. Baris Alper Yilmaz converted from the penalty spot in the 67th minute to make it 2-0 after Fenerbahce were reduced to 10 men following a red card for a second bookable offence.
The hosts continued to dominate, with two additional goals ruled out for offside after VAR reviews. However, Lucas Torreira sealed the emphatic win with a third goal in the 83rd minute.
The result extends Galatasaray’s lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig table to seven points over second-placed Fenerbahce, with just four matches remaining.
With momentum firmly on their side, Galatasaray are now in a strong position to secure a fourth consecutive league title as the season approaches its final stretch.
