Lagos State Deputy Governor commends Participants at 2022 HOS Games for show of Sportsmanship as LASUTH and PSO emerge winners

The 16th Edition of the Lagos state Head of Service games came to a close with a frenzy of jubilation by Sportsmen and women in the State’s service on Tuesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan Lagos following the emergence of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and the Public Service Office (PSO) as Champions in the male and female football competition on Tuesday.

In his speech, the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat congratulated Lagos State Public Servants for their Sportsmanship and Comradeship describing the importance of Sports and Sports development as vital to the development and growth of the Nation.

Highlights of this year’s event is the introduction of six additional sports which include Chess, Scrabble, Traditional Ayo, Long Tennis, Table Tennis, and Tug-of-war.

Over 80 MDAs participated in the event which started out as the Lagos State Inter-Agency Football Competition tagged HOS Cup now HOS Games.

LASUTH team defeated the Lagos Judiciary team to emerge champions in the male category while PSO team beat the Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) team to emerge winners in the female category.

Meanwhile, Head of Service Hakeem Muri-Okunola said one of the objectives of the event is to give civil servants the opportunity to explore their innate talents and abilities beyond the walls of the office environment.

According to him, this goal has been achieved in itself as the HOS Games over the years has produced sports men and women who have represented the state in competitions within and outside Lagos especially at the National Sports festival.
