The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a home-based verification and upload system for candidate O’Level results. Historically, candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions were required to visit accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers in person to upload Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results to the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). The newly unveiled portal allows candidates to complete this verification remotely from their personal devices, significantly reducing queuing delays and logistics costs.
The initiative aims to accelerate the 2026 admission cycle across federal, state, and private universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. By allowing real-time authentication of WAEC and NECO results directly against official examination databases, the system minimizes human error, cuts down administrative bottlenecks, and prevents fraudulent result submissions during the matriculation screening phase.
Clampdown on Illegal Admissions and Irregular Enrolment
Complementing the technical rollout, JAMB has issued a strict directive to colleges of education and specialized institutes regarding illegal or unapproved admissions. Institutions that conducted admissions outside the official CAPS platform for the recent academic sessions have been given a deadline to report and regularize these enrolments or face severe regulatory sanctions.
JAMB reiterated that any admission offered outside the central framework remains invalid, warning that students admitted through informal channels will be barred from participating in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or receiving official graduation clearance. Education analysts have praised the dual measures, noting that remote uploading paired with strict CAPS enforcement brings much-needed transparency and efficiency to Nigeria’s tertiary admissions process.
