James Faleke, the lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, has picked up the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms on behalf of Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The forms were presented on Tuesday in Abuja by Suleiman Argungu, the party’s National Organising Secretary, marking the formal opening of the nomination process within the ruling party.

Faleke, who is also the founder of the Tinubu Support Groups, paid ₦100 million for the forms, a move widely seen as signalling the official commencement of Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The timeline for the electoral cycle has already been outlined by the Independent National Electoral Commission, which scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027.

Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are set to follow on February 6, 2027.

INEC also announced that party primaries, including the resolution of disputes, will take place between April 23 and May 30, 2026, providing a window for political parties to select their candidates.

Campaign activities for presidential and National Assembly elections are expected to begin on August 19, 2026, while governorship and state assembly campaigns will commence on September 9, 2026.

The early move by Tinubu’s camp underscores growing political activity ahead of the 2027 elections, as parties begin to position themselves for what is expected to be a highly competitive contest.
