The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has advised air travellers to arrive at airports at least three hours before scheduled international flight departures to avoid delays and missed flights.
The Director of Public Affairs at the NCAA, Michael Achimugu, gave the advisory on Monday through his verified X handle, noting that airlines have different check-in closing times.
Achimugu urged passengers travelling internationally to arrive early and complete necessary procedures ahead of their flights.
“For international flights, please, be at the airport three hours before departure. Some airlines close their check-in counters earlier than others,” he said.
He also encouraged travellers to make use of online check-in services where available and secure their seat numbers before arriving at the airport.
According to him, passengers are better off arriving early rather than risking missing their flights due to delays at the airport.
The advisory is part of ongoing efforts by the NCAA to reduce cases of passenger inconvenience, flight disruptions and missed departures caused by late arrivals.
Aviation stakeholders have also repeatedly highlighted that check-in deadlines differ among airlines, making early arrival particularly important for international flights.
The NCAA noted that arriving ahead of time allows passengers to complete check-in, security screening and other airport procedures without unnecessary pressure.
