Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has formally presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Gombe State, Jamilu Gwamna, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The presentation followed Gwamna’s emergence as the APC flagbearer after what the party described as an overwhelming victory in its governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 general polls.
President Tinubu congratulated Gwamna on his emergence and commended Governor Yahaya for what he described as exemplary leadership and efforts in strengthening the APC’s structures in Gombe State.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, the President expressed confidence in the ruling party’s leadership in the state and its capacity to sustain developmental progress.
Tinubu was quoted as saying he was optimistic that the APC would continue to build on its developmental achievements and maintain the political stability witnessed in Gombe State under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The President also praised Governor Yahaya for what he described as visionary governance and his commitment to consolidating party unity and structure in the state.
During the meeting, Governor Yahaya commended President Tinubu for providing what he called purposeful leadership that has strengthened unity, cohesion and progressive governance across the country.
He also expressed appreciation for the Federal Government’s support to Gombe State in infrastructure development, economic growth and policies aimed at promoting sustainable development.
Yahaya said the presentation of Gwamna to the President was a symbolic step reflecting the APC’s unity and continuity ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Presenting Dr. Jamilu Gwamna to Mr. President is not only symbolic of party unity and continuity, but also a demonstration of the APC’s preparedness to consolidate on the gains recorded in Gombe State over the years,” Yahaya said.
Gwamna’s introduction to President Tinubu is seen as a strategic move within the APC’s early preparations for the 2027 governorship race in Gombe State, as the ruling party seeks to retain control of the state after the completion of Yahaya’s tenure.
