Oluremi Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace peaceful coexistence and extend acts of charity to the less privileged as the country marks Eid-el-Kabir.
In a goodwill message ahead of the celebration, she described Eid-el-Kabir as a time for reflection on the values of sacrifice, obedience, faith, and compassion.
The First Lady stressed that Nigeria’s strength lies in unity, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to building a more compassionate society.
“Our strength as a nation lies in our unity, mutual respect, and shared commitment to building a society where love and understanding prevail,” she said.
She urged Nigerians to translate the spiritual lessons of the festival into practical acts of kindness, especially toward vulnerable members of society.
Mrs Tinubu appealed to citizens to support their neighbours and the less privileged through generosity and care, noting that such actions can renew hope and bring comfort to many.
She also called on Nigerians to continue praying for peace, stability, and prosperity in the country.
Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God before divine intervention provided a ram as a substitute.
The festival is typically observed with prayers, the sacrifice of rams and livestock, and the distribution of meat to family members, neighbours, and those in need.
