President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election after securing nearly 11 million votes in the party’s nationwide primary election.

The result was announced during the collation of votes held at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

According to the figures, Tinubu polled a total of 10,999,967 votes, defeating his sole rival, Stanley Osifo, who secured 16,504 votes nationwide.

The primary election was conducted across 8,809 wards in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Governors from 31 states, alongside senior party officials serving as state coordinators, presented results to the Presidential Primary Election Committee chaired by former Senate President Pius Anyim.

His opponent, Osifo, recorded only marginal figures in the region, including 1,186 votes in Lagos and 929 votes in Oyo.

In the North-West, Tinubu also dominated with 618,914 votes in Kaduna and 500,852 in Kano, alongside strong showings in Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara and Gombe.

Across the North-Central zone, the president maintained a wide lead, securing 310,990 votes in Kwara, 285,436 in Nasarawa, 241,720 in Plateau, 197,370 in Kogi, 175,487 in Niger, and 374,787 in Benue.

He also received 36,103 votes in the Federal Capital Territory, while Osifo failed to record any vote there.

In the South-East, Tinubu polled 582,960 votes in Imo, 383,382 in Enugu, 207,579 in Ebonyi, 161,005 in Abia, and 43,034 in Anambra.

In the South-South, he secured 407,646 votes in Delta, 389,197 in Akwa Ibom, 280,082 in Rivers, and 227,192 in Bayelsa.

Osifo’s performance remained limited across most states, with only minor figures recorded in select areas.

Party officials described the process as a demonstration of unity and strength within the ruling party ahead of the next electoral cycle.
