The Kogi State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ratified an automatic ticket for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the party’s sole candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general election.

The decision was taken at a meeting held on Thursday at the PDP state secretariat in Lokoja, where members unanimously endorsed an earlier approval granted by the State Chairman, Muhammed Gambo.

The committee also affirmed Akpoti-Uduaghan’s leadership role within the party in Kogi State, attributing the endorsement to her sustained financial and organisational support for party activities.

Speaking on behalf of the working committee, Gambo praised the senator’s performance in the National Assembly, describing her representation as impactful and people-focused.

“She has continued to make the party proud through purposeful representation,” he said.

He further highlighted her developmental contributions in Kogi Central, including empowerment initiatives and infrastructure projects aimed at improving living standards across communities.

“Beyond her legislative duties, her impact in Kogi Central through empowerment programmes and her investments in infrastructure development have been outstanding,” Gambo added.

According to the party, her projects include the construction of schools and markets, provision of housing accommodation, and skills training programmes for constituents.

The PDP leadership in the state reaffirmed its support for the senator, describing her as the unanimous choice for the 2027 senatorial election in Kogi Central.

Meanwhile, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had earlier declared her intention to seek re-election on Monday, stating that her decision followed extensive consultations with constituents across the five local government areas of the district.
