Vice President Kashim Shettima has commended the Kaduna State Government for establishing the Kaduna State Council on Skills, describing it as a national benchmark for workforce development, youth employment, and inclusive economic growth.

In a letter addressed to Governor Uba Sani, VP Shettima, who also chairs the National Council on Skills (NCS), praised the successful inauguration of the council as a strategic institutional response to Nigeria’s human capital and unemployment challenges.

The commendation followed discussions at the latest NCS session, where Kaduna’s efforts were highlighted as a significant policy milestone in advancing coordinated skills development nationwide.

“The establishment of the council aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and sets a benchmark for other sub-national entities,” VP Shettima wrote. He further noted that the council demonstrates “a proactive commitment to addressing the unemployment gap and fostering human capital development in line with our national objectives.”

Describing the initiative as an evidence of integrated economic vision, Shettima said, “This milestone is a testament to your administration’s vision of integrated economic growth.” He also hailed the Kaduna Model as “a vital template for the ‘Bottom-Up’ approach to skills acquisition,” underscoring its importance in extending vocational and technical training to grassroots communities.

The Vice President called for sustained collaboration between the National Secretariat and the Kaduna State Council to harmonise standards and scale the impact of ongoing skills development interventions.
