The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has deployed 500 additional personnel across strategic routes and project corridors in preparation for the visit of President Bola Tinubu.
The development was disclosed on Monday by Omotoso during a press briefing on the state’s preparations for the presidential visit.
According to him, the deployment aims to ensure smooth traffic flow, enhance security and reduce disruption to residents during the President’s engagements in the state.
He explained that the move forms part of coordinated arrangements involving both federal and state agencies to facilitate seamless movement and efficient logistics throughout the visit.
“We are working closely with federal and state agencies to ensure that all arrangements for the President’s visit are seamless, secure, and befitting of the occasion,” he said.
Omotoso added that security, logistics and traffic management plans were being carefully coordinated to minimise disruptions to daily activities while guaranteeing the safety and comfort of participants.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, also confirmed that the agency had concluded plans to station the additional officers across major highways and critical routes linked to the President’s itinerary.
According to Bakare-Oki, the deployed personnel will manage vehicular movement and help reduce congestion along affected corridors during the visit.
He noted that the measure forms part of a broader inter-agency traffic management framework designed to ensure the smooth conduct of the commissioning ceremonies and limit inconvenience to commuters.
Other top officials present at the briefing included the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya; Special Advisers on Works and Infrastructure, Adekunle Olayinka and Femi Daramola; as well as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile.
