Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has officially resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), effective immediately, citing the need for strategic realignment in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
In a statement, Kwankwaso expressed gratitude for the honor of serving as the party’s National Leader and as its Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general elections. He described his decision as difficult but necessary to identify with another political platform that offers a better opportunity to drive national change.
“I extend my deepest appreciation to the National Chairman, Ajuji Ahmed, and the entire National Working Committee for their steadfast support throughout my time,” he said. He also thanked the Board of Trustees, National Executive Committee, and party leaders at all levels, as well as followers of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, for their commitment to the party’s mission.
Kwankwaso emphasized that, despite his resignation, he remains committed to collaborating with former party members to work toward a better and more prosperous future for Nigeria.
As former Governor of Kano State and the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Kwankwaso’s resignation marks a significant shift in the party’s leadership landscape, raising questions about his next political move ahead of upcoming elections.
