Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Onyekachi Ibezim, have been sworn in for a second term in office, marking the beginning of another four-year administration in Anambra State.
The inauguration ceremony took place in Awka on Tuesday and attracted top political figures from across the country. Among those in attendance were Vice President Kashim Shettima, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Soludo’s inauguration follows his victory in the November 2025 governorship election, where he secured 422,664 votes across 5,718 polling units in the state. His closest challenger, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 99,445 votes.
The ceremony drew political stakeholders, government officials, traditional rulers, and supporters, signalling strong backing for the administration as it begins a new term.
In his inaugural address, Soludo described his re-election as a collective endorsement of his policies and vision for the state. He assured residents that his government would remain committed to delivering on campaign promises.
“We will not take your support for granted,” he said, while thanking both the Federal Government and the international community for their partnership over the past four years.
The governor also called for unity across political lines, acknowledging members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Politics and elections are over. It’s time to work together for the development of Anambra,” Soludo stated.
The inauguration marks a fresh chapter for the state government, with expectations high for continued progress and inclusive governance.
