Residents of Ikeja, Lagos State, have lauded the official flagging-off of the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ Ramadan Food Palliatives, aimed at supporting both Muslims and Christians during the fasting period.

The distribution was overseen by Mr. Abisola Omisore, Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, who thanked President Bola Tinubu for his gesture in supporting residents during this festive season.

Omisore said the initiative, brought to the people through the office of the President, is meant to alleviate hardships and demonstrate the government’s commitment to its constituents.

“This initiative is being brought up by the office of Mr. President Bola Tinubu for the people in his ward, to show a sign of commitment and at the same time to tell them they are not being forgotten,” Omisore said.

He noted that beneficiaries were selected across various groups regardless of political affiliations to ensure that the food palliatives reach all residents, especially at the grassroots level.

“We have 10kg of rice, millo, milk, salt, groundnut oil, pasta, and other essential food items. It’s a full package for the community,” Omisore added.

Alausa Ward F Councilor, Mr. Lawal Ganiyu, also thanked the President for the food palliatives, highlighting that the initiative helps subsidise residents struggling with hunger during the Ramadan and Lenten periods.

“This is not because this is President Tinubu’s ward; it is part of wider efforts across the country. We appreciate him for giving residents food items at this period,” Ganiyu said.

Several beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture. Mrs. Rukayat Usman, a widow, said the palliative would sustain her during the fasting period and allow her to support neighbours.

“I’m fasting now, and this food package will really help me a lot. We thank President Tinubu, Vice Chairman Omisore, and our Councilor Lawal for this kind gesture,” she said.

Another beneficiary, Mr. Monday Oguneje, praised the quality and variety of the packages.

“The food palliatives contain items that can sustain our families for weeks. We are proud of the President and pray for his wellbeing and success,” Oguneje said.

The distribution of the Ramadan food palliatives under the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ underscores the administration’s effort to support communities and promote social welfare during key festive periods.
