The Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, has approved the redeployment of Adetola Muyiwa John as the new Accountant General and Permanent Secretary of the State Treasury Office (STO).
The redeployment follows the retirement of the outgoing Accountant General, Dr Abiodun Muritala, and takes immediate effect from March 2, 2026, according to an official circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service.
Adetola, who previously served as Auditor-General in the Office of the State Auditor-General, is now tasked with managing the State Treasury, ensuring financial accountability, overseeing the publication of financial statements, and supervising public financial management activities including revenue monitoring and expenditure control.
The Head of Service, Bode Agoro, wished Mr. Adetola success in his new role and urged all stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition by providing the necessary cooperation and publicity.
The circular described the redeployment as a strategic move highlighting the State Government’s commitment to efficiency, accountability, and continuity in public financial management.
Recall that Governor Sanwo-Olu had previously approved Adetola Muyiwa John as Acting State Auditor-General effective February 14, 2024, prior to this latest appointment.
