The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Lagos Chapter has officially unveiled a multi-million naira motor park named after President Bola Tinubu.
Located in Oyingbo, Lagos, the “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Modern Garage” was unveiled in the presence of top state and union officials, including NURTW Lagos Chairman Mustapha Sego, His Royal Highness Oba Rilwan Aremu, the Oba of Lagos, Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi, and Special Adviser to the Governor Sola Giwa.
The new facility adds to a growing list of public landmarks renamed after President Tinubu since he assumed office on May 29, 2023. Others include the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way in Abuja, the Bola Tinubu Building at the National Assembly, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic in Gwarinpa, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks in Abuja, and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Adamawa State.
The proliferation of Tinubu-named landmarks has sparked public debate over the symbolism and intent of these renamings, with commentators discussing the implications for national heritage and political legacy.
