Alex Iwobi has urged Fulham to remain positive following their dramatic 5–4 defeat to Manchester City at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night.
Marco Silva’s side produced a spirited display against the reigning champions and were unlucky not to come away with at least a point after pushing Pep Guardiola’s men to the limit.
Fulham began their fightback early in the second half through Iwobi, who scored the Cottagers’ second goal to reignite hopes of a comeback. His fellow Nigerian, Samuel Chukwueze, later came off the bench to score twice, bringing Fulham within touching distance of a remarkable result.
Despite the late surge, Manchester City held their nerve to secure maximum points in a thrilling nine-goal encounter.
Reacting after the match, Iwobi expressed his disappointment but insisted there were positives to take from the performance.
“I feel disappointed because we didn’t get anything out of the fighting spirit that we showed, but I think we have to take the positivity from the game,” Iwobi said on Fulham’s official website.
Fulham will now shift focus to their next Premier League fixture, an away clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
