A major internet outage affected several popular online platforms early Monday morning, leaving users unable to access or use apps such as Snapchat, Roblox, Canva, Duolingo, and Wordle.
Reports of problems began surfacing on DownDetector around 7:45 a.m., with most users citing difficulties with app functionality, website loading, and server connections.
The disruptions prompted an outpouring of frustration on X (formerly Twitter), where thousands of users shared their experiences.
One Snapchat user wrote:
“I repeat! SNAPCHAT IS DOWN… they deleted all my friends hopefully it’s temporary. Did this happen to anyone else?”
Another user complained:
“My Snapchat is completely bugged — I have internet but Snap scores aren’t loading and I can’t see anything on the map now.”
A third frustrated user added:
“@Snapchat, idk what’s wrong with your app right now but I’m about to lose an 882-day streak, and I don’t want to pay to keep a streak YOUR app is going to make me lose for being down.”
According to multiple media reports, the widespread outage is linked to Amazon Web Services (AWS) — the cloud computing giant that powers much of the modern internet.
AWS confirmed it was experiencing “increased error rates” and delays across multiple services, as noted on its service status page.
While Snapchat and other affected platforms have yet to issue detailed statements, the problems appeared to stem from backend infrastructure issues at AWS, which hosts critical components for many apps and websites.
As of press time, services were gradually being restored, though some users continued to report intermittent access issues.
