President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Al’amin Muhammed Idris, Chief Executive Officer of Interface Africa, on the company’s remarkable victory at the NextGen Innovation Challenge, where it emerged overall winner with a £1.5 million cash prize.
Representing Kaduna State, Interface Africa clinched the top position at the grand finale held on Thursday at the Hilton London Paddington, earning recognition for its innovative solar financing model designed to provide affordable clean energy access to small businesses across Africa.
In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended the company’s commitment to sustainable development and economic inclusion through renewable energy solutions.
The President described the achievement as a testament to the creativity and ingenuity of Nigerian youths, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to harnessing their innovative potential under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The innovative potential of Nigerian youths is limitless, and we will continue to create opportunities to harness and catalyse this vital resource,” the President said.
The NextGen Innovation Challenge, jointly organised by the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) and UKALD London, is a national initiative inspired by President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. It seeks to nurture homegrown innovation and support young entrepreneurs in developing scalable, impactful solutions to local and global challenges.
Tinubu also applauded the 104 other participants in the competition, urging them to remain steadfast and visionary in their pursuit of innovation and excellence.
“Your drive to innovate, improve lives, and shape the future of humanity is the spirit that will continue to move our nation forward,” he said.
The President reiterated his administration’s resolve to empower young innovators through policies that promote creativity, digital transformation, and sustainable enterprise growth across Nigeria.
