The Federal Government has released the official programme of activities to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, themed “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”
According to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), the celebrations kicked off today, Friday, September 26, with a special Jumu’ah prayer at the National Mosque, Abuja, at 1:00 p.m.
On Sunday, September 28, an inter-denominational church service will hold at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The events continue on Monday, September 29, with a world press conference at the National Press Centre, Radio House, Abuja, scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
The highlight of the anniversary comes on Tuesday, October 1, when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will address the nation in a live broadcast at 7:00 a.m.
Later that morning, at 10:00 a.m., the Independence anniversary parade will take place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The week-long programme will conclude on Friday, October 3, with the presidential unveiling of the National Values Charter (NVC) and the grand finale of the National Campus Debate, both scheduled for the State House Conference Centre at 10:00 a.m.
The government said the anniversary would combine religious, civic, and cultural activities to reflect unity and reaffirm Nigeria’s commitment to national development.
