Andre Onana’s future at Old Trafford is finally settled after Manchester United confirmed the Cameroonian goalkeeper has joined Turkish side Trabzonspor on loan for the 2025/26 season.
Doubts over the 29-year-old’s position grew when United sealed a €21 million (£18.2m) move for Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens this summer.
Onana, who arrived from Inter Milan in 2023 for an initial €51 million, endured a difficult spell marked by inconsistent performances, a hamstring injury in pre-season, and clashes with manager Ruben Amorim. His costly mistake in United’s shock League Cup defeat to Grimsby further weakened his standing.
United confirmed the loan deal in a statement:
“Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has joined Trabzonspor on loan for the duration of the 2025/26 season, subject to international clearance and registration. The move has been completed ahead of the Turkish transfer window closing on Friday. We would like to wish Andre good luck.”
The Red Devils will return to Premier League action after the international break with a high-profile clash away to rivals Manchester City on Sunday.
