Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and people of Epe Kingdom following the passing of the 19th Olu of Epe, Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale. The monarch passed away on Saturday at the age of 86.
In a statement released on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu described Oba Adewale’s deathas a significant loss to Epe Kingdom and the traditional institution in Lagos State.
The Governor praised the late Oba’s lifetime of service, stating that his enduring contributions to the civil service and traditional leadership will remain a lasting legacy.
“Oba Adewale made lots of positive impact during his lifetime,” the Governor said. “He contributed meaningfully to the Lagos State Civil Service, rising to the position of Director of Administration in the Ministry of Education and later serving as Executive Secretary at the Ministry of Lands before ascending the throne.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the people of Epe and the deceased monarch’s associates to honour his memory by continuing his legacy of service and unity.
“On behalf of the government and people of Lagos, I commiserate with the people of the ancient city of Epe, the traditional council, and the royal family on the transition of Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale,” he said.
“I pray that Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and gives the people of Epe the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
