Manchester United Open Talks with Victor Osimhen Over Summer Move

The Red Devils target prolific Nigerian striker as they seek to bolster their attack ahead of next season.

Manchester United Target Osimhen Amid Striker Hunt

Manchester United have reportedly opened discussions with the representatives of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as part of their plans to sign a world-class forward ahead of the 2025/26 season.

According to transfer journalist Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has had an outstanding season in Turkey. He has scored 33 goals and contributed 8 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. Despite his form, a permanent move to Galatasaray appears unlikely due to financial limitations.

Premier League Move Looks Likely

Manchester United’s interest in the 26-year-old Lagos-born striker has grown as the club seeks alternatives to their primary target, Victor Gyökeres. Talks have already been held with Osimhen’s camp, according to reports.

The striker, who previously rejected a €50 million offer from Al Hilal, is now being courted by Saudi club Neom. However, Osimhen is believed to favour a move to the English Premier League, where competition and visibility are at their peak.

Salary and Transfer Fee Pose Challenges

Osimhen is reportedly demanding a salary of €12 million per year, a figure that narrows down his suitors to financially robust clubs like Manchester United. Additionally, Napoli are expected to demand over €75 million, including bonuses, to release the striker, who is still under contract with the Serie A club.

While Ipswich forward Liam Delap remains under observation by United, Osimhen is seen as a more experienced and immediate solution to their attacking struggles.

What’s Next?

With the summer transfer window approaching, Manchester United must decide whether they are ready to meet Napoli’s valuation and Osimhen’s wage expectations. If successful, the deal could bring one of Africa’s most lethal strikers to Old Trafford.
