In a heartfelt Easter message to Nigerians and Christians around the world, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for unity, hope, and resilience, assuring citizens of better days ahead despite the nation’s current challenges.
Speaking on the significance of the season, the President described Easter as the cornerstone of the Christian faith, symbolising “sacrifice, redemption, love, and hope.”
“I heartily felicitate Christians in Nigeria and worldwide as they commemorate Easter, the celebration of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection—the cornerstone of the Christian faith,” Tinubu stated.
He called on Nigerians to reflect during the Holy Week, which spans Palm Sunday through Holy Thursday and Good Friday and culminates in Easter Sunday.
As part of his message, the President acknowledged recent tragedies that have shaken parts of the country, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and reaffirming his commitment to national security.
“The recent tragic incidents and the loss of lives in some parts of our country deeply saddened me. Let me assure you that my administration’s resolve to restore peace and security remains unshakable,” he said.
“Forces of evil will never prevail over our country. I have given clear directives to the Armed Forces and all relevant security agencies to end insecurity decisively and without delay.”
The President also praised the Armed Forces and security personnel, acknowledging their courage and ongoing efforts to reclaim peace across Nigeria.
On the economic front, Tinubu thanked Nigerians for their patience, noting encouraging signs of recovery and ongoing reforms aimed at creating a more inclusive economy.
“We understand the economic challenges many of you are facing, and we are working tirelessly to restore investor confidence, stabilise key sectors, and build an inclusive economy that serves the interests of all Nigerians,” he said.
He also joined the global Christian community in offering prayers for Pope Francis, who is recovering from illness, expressing gratitude for the Pope’s renewed strength and leadership.
In a closing message of hope, President Tinubu likened Nigeria’s future to the triumph of Christ over death, calling on Nigerians to remain steadfast and united.
“Just as Christ triumphed over death, so too shall our country triumph over every challenge we face. The present moment may be cloudy, but it will usher in a glorious day.”
“May the risen Christ bless our homes with peace and our nation with continued unity and prosperity.”
