The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has given approval for the adoption and implementation of the Orosanye Report, aimed at reducing the cost of governance in Nigeria.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the announcement during a briefing with State House correspondents at the end of the FEC meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Idris explained that the adoption of the Orosanye Report signifies significant changes in the government structure, with the scrapping, merging, and reorganization of various agencies, commissions, and departments. The objective is to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and improve overall government performance.
“In a very bold move today, this administration, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, consistent again with his courage to take very far-reaching decisions in the interest of Nigerians, has taken a decision to implement the so-called Orosanye Report,” said Minister Idris.
The implementation involves the scrapping of certain agencies, the merging of others, and the repositioning of departments under new ministries to optimize their effectiveness. The decision aligns with the government’s commitment to governance reforms and fiscal responsibility, seeking to ensure that resources are utilized efficiently for the benefit of the Nigerian people.
The Orosanye Report implementation is expected to bring about a more streamlined and effective government structure, contributing to improved service delivery and overall governance in Nigeria.
