Mr. Yinka Folami has been returned unopposed as President of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies, securing another two-year term to continue leading the country’s foremost travel trade body.
The election, held at the Conference Hall of the University of Ibadan, brought together members from across Nigeria and featured both contested and uncontested positions, reflecting a blend of continuity and internal competition within the association.
In the most closely contested race, Mohammed Mustapha from the northern zone emerged as First Deputy National Vice President after polling 216 votes, defeating Pastor Chinyere Umeasiegbu, who scored 146 votes.
Another hotly contested position was that of National Public Relations Officer, where Babatunde Adesokan secured victory with 210 votes, beating Gideon Olubayo, who polled 150 votes.
Adesokan previously served as Immediate Vice President for the South West zone before his election to the communications role.
Several other positions, including that of Financial Secretary held by Kunle Oluwole, were filled unopposed, while the office of Internal Auditor occupied by Johnson Ugochukwu was not due for election during the exercise.
The election outcome is expected to strengthen the leadership structure of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies as it continues to play a key role in Nigeria’s travel and tourism sector.
Industry stakeholders say the association remains central to improving professional standards, supporting members, and shaping policy engagement within the country’s growing travel trade ecosystem.
With Folami’s renewed mandate, attention is expected to shift toward strengthening industry collaboration, improving regulatory engagement, and expanding opportunities for Nigerian travel agencies in both domestic and international markets.
