Soludo Submits First Batch of 18 Commissioner Nominees to Anambra Assembly

Anambra State House of Assembly begins screening process as Governor Soludo forwards list dominated by male nominees.

The Governor of Chukwuma Soludo has submitted the first batch of commissioner nominees to the Anambra State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser on New Media to the Speaker of the House, Franklin Osankwa, noting that the list was formally presented during plenary and received by Speaker Somtochukwu Udeze.

Following the presentation, the Speaker referred the nominees to the Committee on Screening and Election Matters for further legislative review ahead of confirmation proceedings.

The list contains 18 nominees, made up of 17 men and one woman, spanning key ministries across the state’s governance structure.

Among the nominees are Dr. Ben Chuks Odoemena (Agriculture), Mr. Chukwukadibia Okoye (Budget and Economic Planning), Dr. Ekene Ogugua (Education), Dr. Clem Aguiyi (Environment), and Mr. Izuchukwu M. Okafor (Finance).

Others include Dr. Afam Obidike (Health), Dr. Law Mefor (Information and Value Reformation), Barr. Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN (Justice/Attorney-General), Prof. Offornze Amucheazi, SAN (Lands), and Barr. Vin Ezeaka (Local Government and Community Affairs).

The list also features Prof. Charles Ofoegbu (Petroleum and Mineral Resources), Barr. Chijioke Oseloka Ojukwu (Physical Planning and Urban Development), Engr. Casmir Chinenye Agummadu (Power), Arc. Okey Ezeobi (Works and Infrastructure), Hon. Eddy Ibuzo (Transport), Mrs. Esther Chinyere Onyekesi (Women Affairs and Social Development), and Mr. Patrick Agha (Youth Development and Sports).

According to the Assembly, screening of the nominees is expected to commence immediately, after which successful candidates will be confirmed to form the State Executive Council.

The process marks a key step in Governor Soludo’s ongoing effort to reshape his cabinet and strengthen governance delivery across Anambra State.
