The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego, has endorsed Damilola Ayinde Marshal, daughter of renowned Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, for the Lagos State House of Assembly.
In a short video shared on Damilola’s Snapchat account on Wednesday, she was seen presenting branded caps to Sego during a meeting believed to be part of her ongoing political consultations ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.
Speaking in the clip, the NURTW chairman urged party members and supporters to rally behind her ambition.
“When it is primary election, please come out en masse and vote for Dami, Omo Anifowose. She is the only one who can do it. The progress of our Surulere is our collective responsibility. It is our time,” Sego said.
The endorsement adds momentum to Damilola’s growing political support base following her recent declaration to contest for the Surulere Constituency II seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly under the APC.
Damilola, a lawyer and Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, announced her ambition via Instagram, describing her decision as a call to public service.
“I am excited to share that I, Barr. Damilola Ayinde Marshal, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she wrote.
She said her professional background and experience in governance had prepared her for legislative responsibilities.
“I am a woman of excellence and results. I am ready to serve and lead. With my background, I am fully prepared and ready to fight for what truly matters. I promise to be the voice of the youths in the House,” she added.
Damilola further positioned herself as part of a new generation of leaders focused on youth inclusion and development.
“As a young woman, I believe this is exactly what my people need right now, and that is why I decided to step forward,” she said.
She is expected to contest for the seat currently occupied by Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara under the APC.
