EDMONTON, Canada – Japan’s Miyu Yamashita produced a remarkable display of consistency and control to win the 2026 CPKC Women’s Open by nine shots, while matching the LPGA Tour’s 72-hole scoring record.
Yamashita completed her dominant wire-to-wire performance at Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton, Alberta, on Sunday, August 23, with a final-round four-under-par 66.
The 25-year-old finished the tournament at 23-under-par 257, matching the lowest 72-hole gross score in LPGA Tour history. The record was previously set by South Korea’s Sei Young Kim, who shot 257 at the 2018 Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic.
Yamashita Controls the Tournament From Start to Finish
Yamashita entered the final round with a commanding six-shot advantage and never allowed her challengers to seriously threaten her lead.
She closed with six birdies and two bogeys, including a decisive birdie putt on the 18th hole that completed one of the most dominant victories on the LPGA Tour this season.
Her performance was particularly impressive because she never recorded a score higher than 66 during the four-day tournament.
Yamashita opened with a course-record 62 before following it with rounds of 64 and 65. Her final-round 66 completed a remarkable sequence of low scores and secured her fourth LPGA Tour title.
Fourth LPGA Victory in 13 Months
The victory represents another major milestone in Yamashita’s rapidly developing career.
It is her fourth LPGA Tour victory in 13 months, following her breakthrough major championship victory at the 2025 AIG Women’s Open.
She also won the Maybank Championship in Malaysia and the Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan before adding the Canadian title to her growing list of international achievements.
Yamashita’s four LPGA victories have now come in four different countries, highlighting her ability to perform consistently across different courses and conditions.
Yoshida Finishes Second
Fellow Japanese golfer Yuri Yoshida finished runner-up at 14-under-par, nine shots behind Yamashita.
South Korea’s Sei Young Kim finished third at 13-under-par, while 17-year-old Canadian Anna Huang was among the leading home players, finishing at 12-under. Sixteen-year-old amateur Aphrodite Deng also impressed by finishing at 11-under .
The tournament also provided an encouraging performance for Canadian golf, with seven Canadians making the cut, the country’s highest number at its national open since 1996. (
Yamashita’s victory now gives her considerable momentum heading into the next phase of the LPGA season.
Her record-equalling performance in Edmonton further establishes the Japanese star as one of the leading players on the women’s professional golf circuit.
