Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 general elections, describing the move as a “beautiful birthday gift.”
Kalu, who turned 55 on May 5, 2026, signed the President’s nomination form on Tuesday alongside James Faleke, representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

In a statement shared via his X handle on Wednesday, the lawmaker representing Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State said he was honoured to reaffirm his support for the President’s second-term ambition.
“This was indeed a beautiful birthday gift, to have had the opportunity of reaffirming my support and commitment to the continuity of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda as we look ahead to the 2027 elections,” Kalu stated.
He added that he and other political leaders remain committed to working with the President to deliver reforms aimed at advancing national development and improving citizens’ welfare.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, also signed the nomination form, describing it as a “victory form” and a step toward sustaining ongoing development initiatives.
According to a statement issued by his media aide, Umahi said the endorsement reflects a collective commitment to continuity, stability, and consolidation of the administration’s achievements.
The nomination process was initiated by Faleke, who obtained the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress on behalf of the President. Faleke, founder of the Tinubu Support Groups, collected the forms in Abuja after the party declared the process open through its National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu.
The procurement of the forms, valued at N100 million, signals the formal commencement of Tinubu’s re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will take place on February 6, 2027.
With endorsements from key political figures gathering momentum, the race toward the 2027 elections is beginning to take shape within Nigeria’s ruling party.
