No fewer than 3,000 residents of Kwara State are expected to benefit from a three-day free medical outreach organised by the Eniobanke Foundation for Humanity in Ilorin.
The health programme began at the Emir of Ilorin’s Palace and is scheduled to conclude in the Tanke area of Ilorin. The initiative aims to improve access to healthcare, especially for residents who may struggle with the rising cost of medical services.
Beneficiaries are receiving free medical consultations, health screenings, treatment and drugs. Medical personnel are also carrying out tests for conditions including HIV, high blood pressure, blood sugar and eye-related health problems.
Free Healthcare for Residents
The Director of Programmes of the Eniobanke Foundation for Humanity, Quadri AbdulSamad, said the outreach was organised as part of the foundation’s commitment to humanitarian service and giving back to society.
According to him, the programme is designed to bring healthcare closer to people and provide medical attention without financial barriers. The outreach is being conducted in partnership with the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi.
The medical coordinator, Ibrahim Saddiq, explained that qualified health workers are available to attend to beneficiaries and conduct necessary tests.
People whose conditions cannot be adequately treated during the outreach will be referred to appropriate specialist hospitals or medical centres for further care. This will help ensure that patients needing more advanced treatment are directed to facilities capable of managing their conditions.
Plans to Reach More States
The foundation also plans to extend similar healthcare interventions to other parts of Nigeria. States mentioned as possible beneficiaries include Oyo, Ogun, Edo, Cross River, Delta and Plateau, alongside Kwara.
Several beneficiaries praised the initiative, noting that free medical services could provide important relief for households facing economic pressure and high healthcare costs.
The outreach highlights the growing role of humanitarian organisations in supporting access to basic healthcare services at the community level. As the programme concludes, organisers hope the intervention will provide timely treatment and encourage more people to pay attention to their health.
