Two-time U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau remains undecided about whether he will continue playing with LIV Golf beyond the 2026 season, according to a report by golf insider Alan Shipnuck.
DeChambeau has been one of the biggest names in LIV Golf since joining the Saudi-backed circuit in 2022. He has also been one of the league’s strongest public supporters as it tries to create a new structure for the 2027 season.
However, the future of LIV Golf has become uncertain after the Saudi Public Investment Fund decided to withdraw its financial support beyond 2026. LIV subsequently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in New Jersey earlier this month.
The league is now working with BC Partners Advisors on a restructuring plan that could lead to what has been described as “LIV 2.0.”
Under the proposed restructuring, players with financial claims against LIV must give sufficient support to the new arrangement. Reuters reported that at least 50% of players with financial claims, representing at least two-thirds of the total value of those claims, must agree to participate for the plan to move forward.
DeChambeau’s decision is therefore being closely watched because he is one of the players with major financial claims against the league.
According to Shipnuck, DeChambeau has been going back and forth over whether to remain with LIV Golf. The report said people close to the golfer have given different indications about whether he intends to stay.
DeChambeau has not publicly confirmed that he is leaving LIV Golf. He has also not announced that he has committed to the proposed 2027 season.
Other major LIV players are facing similar questions. Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith have also expressed uncertainty about their futures with the new version of the league. Smith recently said players needed more information before making decisions about what they would do next.
DeChambeau joined LIV Golf in 2022 after leaving the PGA Tour. He later became captain of Crushers GC and helped the team win the LIV Golf Team Championship in 2023.
His future could be important to LIV Golf as the organisation attempts to secure the support of its leading players and establish a new financial structure for 2027.
For now, DeChambeau’s position remains unclear. He is expected to make a decision as discussions about LIV Golf’s future continue.
