The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has commenced its governorship primary election across Rivers State, with voting taking place in all 319 wards using the Option A4 system.

The exercise, which held on Friday, is being supervised by members of the party’s National Election Committee to ensure compliance with electoral guidelines and internal party procedures.

Ahead of the voting process, governorship aspirants held a strategic meeting where two of the seven candidates reportedly stepped down in favour of Gabriel Pidomson, a former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly and ex-Secretary to the State Government.

One of the aspirants who withdrew from the contest is Henry Ugboma, as part of a consolidation move within the party.

Other candidates still in the race include Sokonte Davies, Farah Dagogo, Leloonu Nwibubasa, and Allen Hart.

Party officials say the use of the Option A4 voting system is intended to enhance transparency and reduce electoral disputes during the primary process.

The ADC National Election Committee is expected to collate and announce results after the conclusion of voting across the state.

The development marks a key step in the party’s preparations for the next general election cycle in Rivers State.
